The free listing below – of year-round lodging, restaurants, shopping and other businesses near the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia National Park – is initially based on information from the Schoodic Chamber of Commerce.
An outgrowth of a blog post we did about Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park’s first-ever Winter Festival and other activities, this page is part of an evolving series on services available to visitors of Acadia National Park, as well as to area residents.
The Schoodic section of Acadia, the only part of the park on the mainland, features dramatic coastline and hiking trails. The non-profit Schoodic Institute, in partnership with Acadia, runs the Schoodic Education and Research Center campus. Among the activities and programs offered by the institute year-round: birding trips, Artist-in-Residence program, and educational and scientific meetings.
The September 2015 opening of the park-run Schoodic Woods, featuring a seasonal campground, bike paths and hiking trails, also opens up new possibilities for outdoor winter activities.
If you know of other businesses or organizations near the Schoodic section of the park that are open some or all of the off-season but are not included, feel free to let us know in a comment below, and we’ll add them to the free listing.
Where Web sites or Facebook pages for the business or organization are available, links are provided; otherwise a link to the Chamber’s page is provided. The listings are not guaranteed as to accuracy or completeness, and are provided for general informational purposes, as a convenience. Inclusion does not constitute a recommendation. Do your usual due diligence before doing business or working with an organization. Remember, confirm a business’s hours by checking the links, or by calling.
This is one of a series of pages we’re rolling out, listing year-round and seasonal businesses and organizations in communities around and near Acadia National Park, such as Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Isle au Haut and Stonington. Be sure to check back for updates.
Now that Schoodic Woods is open, with the trails available year-round for hiking, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, even if the campground isn’t, it may be the perfect time for an off-season trip to Schoodic Peninsula.
